This SS 15-5 PH alloy is essentially stainless steel precipitation hardened and mainly comprised of 15-17% chromium, 3-5% nickel, 3-5% copper, with lesser quantities of manganese, silicon, and titanium. Mechanical properties of the said alloy are a tensile strength of 130-160 ksi (900-1100 MPa), a yield strength of 90 ksi (620 MPa) along with elongation to about 12-15%. SS 15-5 PH retains its mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and has excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, which makes it suitable for demanding environments in aerospace and chemical industries.
